What it is
A confidence-building day focused on hand tools and basic fix-it skills that make community projects easier, safer, and less dependent on one “handy” person.
What you will do on the day
- Tool orientation: choosing the right tool and using it safely
- Measuring, marking out, fastening, and basic fixings
- Drilling, screws and plugs, hinges, brackets, and common repairs
- Basic timber work: cutting, sanding, assembly and finishing
- Wrap-up: a simple tool list for groups and how to run a safe volunteer workday
What you will leave with
- Hands-on confidence using the most common tools and fixings
- A short reference sheet for fixings and basic techniques
- A practical sense of what your group can take on, and what to outsource
What to bring
Sturdy footwear and work clothes you do not mind getting dusty.

Transport We encourage carpooling, please arrange with your group or let us know if you will be using public transport to Kilfenora or Lisdoonvarna, and we will support you with the transfer to the centre.
