OPENING CONCERT OF REKINDLE FESTIVAL OF LOST SKILLS 2024
LASRAÍ is a multicultural event celebrating traditional music and dance, not only from Ireland but also from around the world. Showcasing an esteemed lineup of Irish and international traditional artists who are not just upholding but also elevating traditional cultural skills, these individuals play a pivotal role in nurturing and expanding the traditional arts in Ireland.
Performers
Stephanie Keane, Ultan O'Brien and Seamas Hyland
Stephanie Keane is and a renowned Sean Nós dancer celebrated for her unique blend Irish
step dance and Sean Nós traditions, will perform with very special guest musicians for a performance created just for Rekindle. Ultan O’Brien is a is a fiddle player, violist and composer hailing from County Clare drawing from a
rich background in traditional Irish music and improvised music and Seamas Hyland is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and set dancer from Waterford, currently based in Dublin. The trio will come together with a very special performance especially for Rekindle so this is one not to be missed!
Mohammad Syfkhan
Kurdish bouzouki player Mohammad Syfkhan, fresh from his performance on "Other Voices," will perform traditional Kurdish and Iranian songs on the bouzouki—a performance not to be missed!
Aindrias De Staic and Louise O'Connor
Renowned fiddler and storyteller Aindrias de Staic will
perform
alongside the brilliant musician and dancer Louise O'Connor, bringing a
dynamic blend
of traditional Irish music, dance, and storytelling to the event. Clare
based musicians themselves, they will perform with local Ennistymon
musicians on the night.
Citadel
Citadel are a 10 piece cork based group playing traditional music from around the Globe. The band features members from many countries, such as Pakistan, India, Burundi, Ukraine, Russia, Iraq. They play music from their home
countries and accompany each other, creating a unique blend of sounds and rhythms - they are a powerhouse not to be missed.
Kateryna Cerniak
Kateryna is a folk singer and guitar player from Ukraine based in Lisdoonvarna - she sings traditional folks songs from her home country ‘the Ukrainian songs is always in my heart, it reminds me of my motherland and warms my soul with the memory of Ukraine
This event will take place on Friday 16th August at 7pm at the Ennistymon Community Centre
REKINDLE Festival Day will return to Parliament Street, Ennistymon on the 16th and 17th of August as part of National Heritage Week.
Rekindle Festival of Lost Skills is funded by the National Heritage Council, the Arts Council and Clare County Council.
